Triangle Neuropsychiatry is a specialized psychiatric practice located in Durham, North Carolina.
Our providers treat a variety of disorders ranging from ADHD, anxiety, and depression to bipolar, schizophrenia, and other psychotic disorders. We also treat many patients who are dually diagnosed with a developmental disorder and another psychiatric disorder and patients with complex and rare diagnoses.
The providers at Triangle Neuropsychiatry work with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Though we provide basic counseling and guidance for health and behavior concerns, we are primarily offer medication management for a range of disorders. Our providers have extensive knowledge of the brain and nervous system, mental disorders, medication side effects, drug interactions, and how drugs affect the body’s systems. We use this specialized knowledge to develop successful treatment plans for patients.
Many people worry that psychotropic medications will make them feel or act differently, stifle their creativity, or turn them into zombies. In some instances, these fears are not unfounded, as incorrect dosages or incompatible medication types can lead to undesirable side effects. In other cases—and particularly in the case of severe mental illness—medications can be vital for improved functioning and a more fulfilling life. We believe that anyone who is prescribed a psychiatric medication should feel empowered to discuss any concerns with their provider and carefully weigh the pros and cons before embarking on a medication regimen.
Our providers strive to find the right medication or medications for each individual patient and his or her unique set of issues. We work closely with our patients who are interested in augmenting treatment with psychotherapy, counseling, or behavior modification. We work hand-in-hand with many well-qualified therapists in the area to provide the best care possible. We are happy to provide referrals for various therapies like dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). We also provide referrals to other modalities of treatment like occupational therapy, social skills training, hypnosis, acupuncture, or nutritional counseling.
